Happy Anniversary...nearly!
A year ago I wrote my first blog post, wondering how successful it would be, and whether anyone would ever read it.
A year later, and what a lot has happened since then! So much that we would never have even imagined, in fact.
There is so much excitement to be experienced at the moment whilst we await the return of our full school community from 8 March, and all the associated freedoms that the gradual release of restrictions will bring. What we once took for granted will soon - we hope - return to our lives and be very much more appreciated.
Yet, whilst life inevitably moves on, and the seasons are ever-changing, our school life retains much of its usual reassuring pattern. Even at the moment, whilst we are mid-lockdown, our English department is busy preparing for World Book Day on 4 March, the very subject of that first blog.
Myself, I've just penned my welcome letter to our newest recruits, who will find out on Monday 1 March that they have been allocated a place in our Year 7 cohort for September 2021.
It's with a sense of excitement that I recall the virtual transition activities that our current Year 7 students started to engage with a year ago, and now I have the pleasure of looking forward to experiencing what another innovative group of young people can do. I hope that, this time around, we can even run some face-to-face activities, as we approach the end of the present lockdown – and how much they will be appreciated this year!
So, welcome to our newest members! May Offer Day be a fabulous new beginning for you - I cannot wait to see how you will contribute in your own unique way to our Community, and we all look forward to seeing your Resilience, Excellence, Aspiration, Tenacity and Enthusiasm as you join us for the next stage of your journey.
