Student Library Guide
Library Opening Times
- Monday - Thursday: 8.30am - 4.00pm
- Friday: 8.30am - 3.30pm
Break & Lunch Times
Students are welcome to use the Library at break and lunch times, although there may be a restriction on numbers if it becomes very busy.
Homework Club
- Monday - Thursday: Lunchtime and after school from 3:05pm-4.00pm
- Friday: Lucnhtime only (Library closes at 3.30pm)
Chess and Quiet games (Year 7 & Year 8)
- Monday - Friday: Lunchtime only

Independent Study Programme
The Independent Study Programme is a supervised space in which students can complete homework and other independent study tasks.
Facilities
- The Library seats up to 150 students.
- Wider reading fiction and non-fiction books are available to loan for up to 2 weeks at a time
- Textbooks, revision guides and other reference books are for use in the Library only
- A collection of magazines is displayed for reading in the Library
- DVDs and audio CDs may be borrowed for 2 days
- Online library resources include JSTOR and Britannia School. Please ask the librarian for details
- The Library has a colour photocopier/printer
Stationery Shop
The Stationery Shop is open at break and lunch times for the sale of essential equipment.
Student Librarians
Students can apply to train as a Student Librarian.
An application form is available from the Librarian. Students can achieve a Student Librarian certificate and Badge on successful completion of their training.

- No eating in the Library

- Students should work quietly and with consideration for others
- Students staying in the library should have a seat
Support
Library staff can give help with homework and suggest reading and resources to suit your needs. Reading lists and study skills guides are available at the Library Desk.
