Welcome

Isn’t this exciting… or are you nervous? Students, you’re about to make the transition from your primary school to Valley Park, your new school. Parents/carers, we're also talking to you, as you too are at a crossroads.

We expect you think about your primary school as your school, and about Valley Park as your new school, with all the anticipation and worries that come with that change.  We hope that the excitement outweighs the nerves, but it’s only natural that you will feel some uncertainty at the moment, as you and your families are facing a huge change.

We are delighted to be offering a programme that incorporates a range of transition activities for you in the coming months – all designed to help you get to know us, and to assist us in finding out about you. We will be writing to you again soon to give you some more information – including about our amazing Summer School programme – and we will do our best to answer your queries when you send them to us.

In this Handbook, we have collected together information about some of the common questions we are typically asked at this time. We are currently busy asking our current Year 7 students what they would like to tell you about becoming a secondary school student, so look out for some more insights from them soon!

We love to learn a little bit about our future students, and so am very much looking forward to learning about you over the coming weeks. We will be sending you some details about how you can participate in our Transition Projects soon, and it’s always the highlight of my week when I review what has been sent in by our newest recruits.

Please don’t hesitate to contact us if you or your family have any concerns.  There's a dedicated email address for anything to do with admissions, and, if you can think of anything that would help you with your transition, please get in touch.

Have you found our e-safety page?  Would you like to know what has been going on at Valley Park recently? You can find out by visiting our News page.

How will we know whether we have done a good job with your transition? Well, it will be when you are able to call Valley Park your school, and we hope that day comes very soon. We can’t wait to meet you!

In the meantime, we hope that you and your family find this section of our website to be a helpful discussion point. Do stay safe and keep in touch…

Good luck!

With best wishes,
Mrs Gunn - Executive Headteacher
Mr Jones - Headteacher
