Decaf (Dementia Cafe)

We have an ongoing appeal to raise money for Dementia UK. If you would like to donate to this appeal, please click on the widget above, which will take you to the Just Giving website. Thank-you for your generosity.

What is Decaf?

Decaf is a Sixth Form group whose aim is to provide regular in-house events to support those within the local area who live with dementia.

Students utilise their chosen personal studies to aid them in the operation of the group. This allows them to gain an understanding of how to apply their subject knowledge to support a condition which impacts over forty-five million people around the world.

Testimonials

I had a wonderful time.

The food, entertainment and fun were excellent! We don’t have much contact with young people as we get older. The students were so polite, smart and confident, they did their school proud.

Lockdown Care Packages

The last Decaf event was cancelled due to the Coronovirus outbreak, so staff at Valley Park created care packages and delivered them to those who had attended previous events. They were delighted to receive this message of thanks:

Care packages thanks"Thank you so much for my care package. It's the little touches that mean so much especially in these sad and lonely times and what a joy. I have been to all of your decaf events; the Christmas Panto and the meal was phenomenal and the coffee morning where we made our own cups and saucers was remarkable."

"Even in lockdown you still managed to impress us all... we couldn't come to you, so you came to us. I am just going to say two words: THANKYOU and CHEERS !!"

Barbara

Christmas Care Packages

In November & December 2020, Decaf continued producing care packages, and delivered Festive goodies to the local community every Friday. View our photos from these events below.
