Sport
This is a two year academic course which provides a comprehensive introduction to the study of sport. You will develop an understanding of the different sports careers, anatomy and physiology, fitness training and programming and sports leadership.
ENTRY REQUIREMENTS
Level 2 BTEC: Merit, GCSE PE: Grade 5 or GCSE Biology or Double Science
RECOMMENDED SUBJECT COMBINATIONS
WHAT TO EXPECT
- A theory based subject, you are not graded on your practical ability.
- Biology! You must be strong in Biology in order to pass the examination in unit one.
- Expect lots of reading around Sport in order to maximise assignment grades.

HOW IT’S ASSESSED
Four units, of which two are external.
- Unit 1: Anatomy and Physiology is an examination unit and
- Unit 2: Fitness Training and Programming for Health, Sport and Well-Being is a set task.
- Unit 3: Professional Development in the Sports Industry and
- Unit 4: Sports Leadership are assessed internally through coursework

PROGRESSION
- Opens up pathways to careers in sport such as; Coaching, Physiotherapy, Sports Science or Teaching.
- Combines well with a large number of subjects and supports entry to Higher Education courses in a wide range of disciplines, ie BA (Hons) Sports Studies and Business.
