Hamilton Visit, Kent School Games and Marathon Success!

Hamilton

On Thursday 20 April Year 11 GCSE Drama students got to ‘be in the room where it happens’ when they went to see Hamilton at the Victoria Palace Theatre in London.

As part of their upcoming written exam, they have to analyse live performance work and Hamilton certainly gave them a lot to think about, with a dynamic set, incredible choreography, and outstanding performances.

Thank you to Miss Blackman for organising such a great day.

Kent School Games

On Wednesday 26 April Valley Park School students attended a Kent School Games Inclusion event at Canterbury University campus.

Specifically selected Year 9 students attended the day and took part in many different team building events, sports activities, life skills and communication forums.

The students in attendance were a credit to the school and participated well. They engaged in the activities and moving forward will be part of an SGO group that will lead and encourage events in the local community, particularly working within the local primary schools to support their sporting events.

Well done to those students involved. Watch this space for the events they will support and run for the Maidstone primary schools in the future.

Marathon Success

I am sure you would like to join us in congratulating Mr Wood and Mr Troman on their Marathon success last Sunday.

Mr Wood said, ‘it has been a massive whirlwind of emotions, and that despite all of the famous landmarks and atmosphere he was completely in the zone for most of the race. The enormity of the event, doing it for the charity and all the support from everyone has been quite overwhelming.’

Stephen Gray from the Young Lives Foundation said, ‘Congratulations Mr Wood! That is a really good time and we are incredibly grateful for your support and dedication.’

So far Mr Wood has raised £1,625 for the charity - there is still time to donate if you would like to show your support.
