Is It Worth It?
Year 7 students took part in the Kent Police ‘Is It Worth It?’ School Tour this morning to talk about online safety in a fun and interactive way. They took part in games, quizzes and music to learn why they need to keep themselves safe when using the internet. The school tour ties in with E-Safety lessons which are part of the school’s Personal Development Programme.
The show used real-world examples of what happens when students don’t think before posting things online and who they can talk to if they’re worried or concerned. It helped students realise the importance of controlling their privacy settings and made them realise they should not share information or images which might later embarrass them, or even cost them a job opportunity in the future.
‘There was a real buzz in the air as students left the performance,’ said Computer Science teacher Mrs Read. ‘It’s something they’ll be talking about for a while. We all left the performance having learnt something new; I’m especially glad they covered some of the more serious topics, such as cyberbullying and its potential impact.’
