Teachers produce PPE equipment for NHS
Teachers from Invicta Grammar School and Valley Park School are making visors and headbands - using laser cutters and 3D printers - to feed directly into the NHS supply chain.
‘The National 3D Printing Society are coordinating people with 3D printers from all over the country to make the headband parts of visors,’ said Valley Park Design & Technology teacher, Mr De Jong. ‘They’ve produced the design which has been approved by the NHS and are arranging shipping. I’m printing one every 50 minutes or so… around child care!’
‘We both have sufficient materials at present,’ said Invicta Health & Safety Officer, Mr Perry. ‘A local GP accepted my design for the visors and I am now in full production.’
Mr Perry was called into action this week by a local GP Surgery! Dr Siu Ling Wong was delighted to receive the first batch of 6 headbands and 30 visors to distribute to her colleagues. Mr De Jong has worked alongside @N3DPS to 3D-print headbands for care workers’ #PPE visors and has already made these in his Easter holiday. What an absolute star ⭐️ @MTWnhs we have your back! #BeKind #LocalHeroes pic.twitter.com/yXI8Hm4ANi
