Stay Positive
Happy New Year, Valley Park!
How many of us, I wonder, stayed up to see 2020 off last week, in the hope that 2021 had much better prospects in store for us? I know I did.
I've blogged before about the fact that I always set my new year resolutions in September, when the academic year commences, but I did nevertheless reflect, last Friday, on what I hoped I would achieve in the coming months.
Where am I with those plans one week later?
Well, I am disappointed, I'll be honest.
Here we are again, our community dissipated all over Maidstone and beyond, and the media reflecting national worry within its myriad headlines.
I'm sorry to hear of those members of our community who are currently unwell, and wish them a very speedy recovery. To those of you with other concerns at this present time, Covid-related and otherwise, I hope your worries are lifted soon.
And, most of all, I am sorry that we have further exam cohorts who face uncertainty at this time, whilst we await news of how teacher-assessed grades will be organised (we've been assured, thankfully, that there won't be an algorithm...).
Students, what can you do?
Well you can permit yourself to be relieved that you're released from the worries that many of you expressed, about making good time lost both last year, and whilst challenges continued this year, too.
You can continue to impress us with your engagement, commitment and enthusiasm for your subjects. You can continue to look out for one another and for yourself.
And you can stay positive.
