Free to do something
There's a hotly-anticipated announcement due today, with feedback expected about the next (and final) stage of the government's Coronavirus Roadmap.
Will 21 June (in a week's time) be Freedom Day as initially planned, or will - as the media currently speculate - we face a delay of about a month or so?
As with so many aspects of the pandemic, there's an aura of disappointment surrounding the prospective delay, tempered by a keen desire to avoid anything that might take us back to those 'Stay At Home' days again.
I don't know any more than the next person, of course, what's going to happen; nor is it my place to speculate. However, I have been thinking about our relative freedoms, even while constrained as we are currently.
There's an illustrative quote from German premier Angela Merkel that states,
Freedom does not mean being free of something, but to be free to do something.
What does freedom mean to you?
