An Absolute Riot of Colour
I still can't quite believe I'm already writing the final blog post of the academic year!
In the depths of winter there were times when it felt like this moment would never arrive - and yet here we are again!
A group of our students last week collaborated on a stunning mural that is intended to take pride of place in Mote Park once it has been weather-proofed. On Wednesday morning, all that existed was 4 white-washed mdf panels, with the merest hint of a tree outline pencilled across them.
By 3pm on the same day, the panels (and some of the students, truth be told!) had taken on an absolute riot of colour, with rich reds blending into greens and fading to blue and crisp, white snowflakes. The tree had been painted in rich hues, the only constant across the variation of all four seasons.
What a year it has been, some real highs and relative lows; health versus sickness; freedom hampered by restriction; light and dark... One thing is for sure, though - we take strength from one another, and we have learned to recognise that the good times will return... we will paint that new, blank, canvas with rainbow shades.
In a year that has surely been characterised by more ups and downs than your typical twelve-months, this citation from our students' artwork is a philosophy for life in these strange times:
Autumn whispered to the wind, 'I fall, but always rise again.'

May the holiday offer you the opportunity to splash your own vibrant colours and tones across those pristine new days!
Have a wonderful break - stay safe, and we'll look forward to seeing you again in the autumn.
