Optimism
Did we lose an hour's sleep in the early hours of Sunday morning, or did we gain hours of balmy summer evenings to come?
Is your glass half empty, or is it half full?
Are there only 5 more days left of term, or is there still 5 days ahead to start pursuing a new goal?
Is there only one more day 'til opening night of "9 to 5 The Musical," or is there a whole day left to perfect the score?
We are talking about optimism, of course. Does it matter? Should we care? It's hard, sometimes, isn't it? When it feels the world is against you, or that you can't do right for doing wrong.
But which came first, the chicken or the egg? The challenges or the pessimism? The negativity or the disaster?
How many times do we say "I can't?" only to be proven absolutely correct?
What if, instead, we reframed our self-doubt into "I can... and this is how I plan to succeed"?
To the cast and crew of "9 to 5" this week: break a (proverbial) leg!
To our Year 11 and Year 13 students who received mock results last week and who are now planning for the summer exam series: yes, you can!
