Production Arts Students Hold Installation Event
The Production Arts students took centre stage at our inaugural installation event on Wednesday.
The assignment for their Combined Arts unit was to turn a historically significant speech into an installation performance using sound, video and lighting. So the Gallery, M4 and M5 were turned into different spaces with themes based on George Bush’s speech post 9/11, Boris Johnson announcing lockdown during Covid-19 and Winston Churchill’s ‘fight them on the beaches’ speech.
The students used editing to combine the speeches with historical footage and music, then used lighting and staging to create an immersive experience from having their temperature checked and being handed facemasks to being in the middle of lights timed to gunshots on world war two footage.
This event showcased the successful integration of production arts elements highlighting the power of collaboration and creativity. The students skilfully combined lighting, sound, and staging to enhance the impact of the speech, effectively conveying its message to the audience. Their teamwork and dedication resulted in a polished and professional presentation that was well-received by attendees.
