Have you got the time?
Time has been one of the recurrent themes in my life over the past 3 months; and I’m not talking about lack of time, or way in which I’m spending it.
I’m talking about the break-neck speed in which time seems to spill between by fingers, like grains of sand in the wind.
When I’m talking to students, year 11 students nostalgically tell me that they remember their first day at Valley Park, and how it seems like a lifetime ago. The knock-on thought for me is that as they’re having this conversation, they are blissfully unaware that maybe the conversation itself will serve as a future reference point when they’re in their 30s, 40s or perhaps beyond?
So this then becomes one of the many ways in which we learn from our students. I certainly feel like I now approach my time with loved ones and friends with just a little appreciation of how I’ll value these moments in times to come. It’s just peculiar to me that I’ve had to navigate through over thirty years to realise this!
