The only constant is change
As late summer segues into autumn, and our newest students settle quickly into their new school, I'm reminded of the old saying that the only constant is change; change can of course be uncomfortable at times, but it wouldn't do for us all to stay still forever, and often these change points act as signposts for the progress we've made.
For instance, back in July we welcomed our current Year 7 cohort into school for their Transition Days. I remember greeting them on their first morning, hearing that they were both excited and nervous.
Then, on 5 September, the very same students joined us again, this time in full uniform and ready to embrace Year 7 life; by lunchtime they were out and about, following their timetables like they’d been doing it for ages!
Fast-forward three weeks, and those same students are limbering up to guide their former primary schoolmates round their new school, remembering how they themselves were visiting prospective secondary schools only a year ago.
I'm very proud of how our Year 7 students have settled in. Often, some of them will speak to me at break or lunch to let me know how it's going, and I love the regular hellos that greet me as I see them around school. Well done, Year 7, and thank you for all your help on Open Evening.
If you're visiting us on Thursday, I hope you enjoy hearing from our youngest recruits, and their journeys from Year 6 into Year 7 - our students really are our biggest advocates!
